I can say that now there are many different new industries. For example, I am currently studying the best binary options brokers. Trading is a business and a complex business. Therefore, any broker is evaluated according to a number of criteria that allow us to understand how adequate it is to the challenges that we, traders, face. The binary options market is a living organism that is in constant change, here are more details about it https://reviewbrokers.org/best-binary-options-brokers/. These changes can be both positive and negative. And you can judge the reliability of a broker only online, since the question of which is the most honest binary options broker will be constantly relevant.

I have a “rate” question for you!

A person has created a 10 minute long video that will be published on youtube. It’s a video of him playing a certain popular game…he travels by air from one popular spot in the world to another, and shows off the amazing game scenery and the mechanics of the game throughout the video. He’d like me to narrate a script he wrote that covers the first approx 3 minutes of the video; it greets all the youtubers and then explains not only what he’s about to show them, but also talks about the departure and destination cities, telling about popular features of each. There will also be some interesting facts about some of the scenery between the cities.

So the question is: According to https://edgestudio.com/rate-cards/, what rate category would this type of job fall under?

I don’t think its “video games”, because he’s playing a game that’s already created…so I’m not a voice in the game.
I don’t think its “explainers”; it’s apparently too long for that.
    Maybe Guided Tours?
My first guess was “Documentary”, but…that’s not a category.

    Any help would be great…thanks!

I think we need to create a saperate category as it wont fit into any existing categories.

I’m wondering if anybody knows the answer to this and would be willing to share?

I’m currently narrating an important public domain document that I intend to share online. Not for pay; mostly because I want people that I know to hear it, and also to keep up my narration chops. And it will make a good demo. It could easily be used in e-learning situations, though, so I can see where I might be approached and asked for the rights to use my recordings.

The question is: if I just put these recordings “online”, do I have any legal claim to them? So if somebody uses the recordings without my consent, do I have any legal recourse? Of course I can contact them and ask them to either pay or stop using them, but…is there any legal backing for that if I’ve put them up on the web for free?

    Thanks!

After thinking about this a bit, I guess there’s no real “recourse”…I’ve been in many classes where the instructor has spun up a youtube video or something else online without paying for it or even acknowledging the source. That’s what I feel would happen with this narration.

And I’ve decided to be OK with that. Maybe it’ll be viewed / listened to; or maybe not. Maybe it’ll generate some interest in my / my voice; or maybe not. The main goal is that this public domain document be more publicly available; maybe people would be more willing to listen to it than they are to read it.

Thanks for reading; I’m of course still open to any comments!

I wanted to run a rate question by you…I got booked for recording names for virtual graduations…what is the industry standard for per hour rate? I can’t find any info specifically for something like this. What are your thoughts?

Hi! I recommend you look through our Rate Card and use it as a jumping off point: https://edgestudio.com/rate-cards/
Specifically, use the Announcements and Live Events section to give you an idea of what to charge.

How do you all send in your auditions to voice agencies and companies? Some great new technologies are making it easier to record directly on companies’ websites – but would you rather record an audition live or pre-record in advance and then submit it later?

Still very new to voice acting and just doing a lot of research. I noticed that there are always cities that get brought up when it comes to voice acting, and they all have sort of generalized specialization (LA’s good for everything, NYC is good for commercials/film, Dallas is good for anime dubbing, etc.)

Denver almost never gets brought up and I assume that’s because it’s a very small market. However, for everyone who’s familiar with the industry here, what is it like and what does it generally focus on? Thanks in advance.
