Per Finished Hour

Edge Studio

A billing method in which voice actors charge a flat rate for each hour of finished product they complete, regardless of how long it takes them to complete it. (This is akin to a painter who charges a flat rate to paint a room, regardless of how long it takes them to complete the room.) Keep in mind that average voice actors spend an average of three hours to complete one hour of finished product. So if the voice actor charges $150 per completed hour, then they are earning $50 per hour. While this rate is lower than most other forms of voice over, this payment type is usually used for long projects, such as audiobooks … and with an average unabridged audiobook being 11 hours long, you still pocket a nice paycheck. This payment type is quite common in audiobook recording.
