My comments on each performance are numbered accordingly:
    1. You’re on the right track. You’ve got a great voice and your read had fitting pitch and tempo for the script. The serious tone you adopted was good too although it sounds more like you’re reading than speaking. Next time, try to imagine you’re speaking to someone in front of you or maybe beside.
    2. You’re pitch and tempo are still good, though I think the pauses were too long. The tone needs work, you don’t sound particularly interested in or even concerned with the Anne E Casey foundation.
    3. You still don’t sound too interested, but halfway you seem to pick up the tone well. Your tempo and pitch are still really good, but the list components wound up rather bland. You should work on making each part of the list uniqe in some way so the listeners won’t get bored.

I think your tone is spot on for narration, but could suit plenty of commercials too. Just remember to make your reads sound conversational.

Here’s another script. This is probably the longest script I’ve done so I had to record paragraph by paragraph. Is my tone consistent throughout? Does my editing still allow the script to flow from beginning to end? How about the recording setup, is it still working well? Any help is appreciated.

I did this script some months ago and I wanted to try it again. How was my tone, pitch, tempo and recording setup? Also There are two recordings and I’d appreciate feedback on which sounded better. #1 was constructed of the script’s multiple phrases that I did different takes of, while #2 was one careful take of the whole script in one go. Thanks for the feedback.

Here’s another script. What do you think of my tone? Did I achieve my goal of sounding confident, genteel, and excited?

I love both of your takes. Neither sound too over-the-top and I could easily see them coming from other characters. Well done.

I am not sure that this is your real voice… I’m sure listeners would spot a phoney and be turned off. You brought the script to life very well, but you have to use your own voice in voice acting, especially for commercials. You’re offering production companies a service only you can provide.

Welcome aboard Ryan. You have a great voice and the tempo you read at was very well-paced. However, I’m not so sure about the words you were hitting and the tone for both of your reads sounds like you’re either reading off a page or just not that interested in the product your selling… When reading a script, imagine you are speaking to the audience face-to-face, or pretend someone’s in front of you and the script is your actual speech. One the most important hurdles a Voice Actor has to overcome is not sounding like a reader. VO is primarily conversational. Hope this helps.

I’ve mainly done commercial scripts, but I also want to work on Narration. What do you think? Did I come off as serious and fascinated? Is my recording setup still working well?

Well, I really like the words you hit and your tempo is very fitting for a narration script. I think your voice would be a good fit for a nature documentary, but I don’t really enjoy the tone you used. You sound kind of sarcastic, condescending, or even uninterested in what your explaining. If you’re not interested in the subject, I’m sure listeners wouldn’t be either. On another note, your recording setup is good and I think you’re on the right track for preparing your demo.
