Hey everyone, I’m working on an audition for the contest. What do you think? Did I pull off their request for a classic narrator that is smooth, easy, relaxed? Thanks for your help

    Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart dared to go where no one had gone before. The public adored the pioneering pilot. And news reels of the day captured her every move. Yet the private side of Amelia would always remain an enigma.

Your performance is magnificent! You adopted a great tone and it was consistent throughout the entirety of each script. The words you hit were spot on and I love the pace of your tempo. Only things I noticed were your pausing in the middle of a sentence. Every coach will tell you to leave pauses for full stops and commas. Also, your recording sounds a little echoey so I would work on modifying your setup. Keep up the good work!

Hey man, I love your voice and I’m do like the tempo and pitch of your performance. The tone you adopted though sounds the same in each script. I think only the first script sounds good with that. Consider your audience and let that determine what type of performance you should adopt. Also, I distinctly heard you pausing midsentence and it sounded like you were struggling to pronounce certain words like “ancient” and “their.” You must leave pausing for periods, commas, question marks etc. I hope this helps.

Well, I have to say Ryan you have a special voice that I’m sure many would love to hear in commercials. You have a clear strike zone with sarcasm, humor, and excitement. The way you enunciated the words in all three scripts was good, however I think your tempo sounded very forced and choppy. This in turn makes the “tone” sound inconsistent throughout. A good read has to sound as if your speaking to someone and trying to woo them. Listeners of this I feel would more likely be eyeing the exit sign… My advice, listen to actual commercials and when reading, pretend your saying the words to someone in person. Hope this helps.

Some people have said that my recent uploads sound like I’m reading and not speaking. In this take, I tried only glancing at the script and speaking to someone imaginary. Do you think I pulled it off? Any other feedback on my tone, tempo and pitch will be appreciated.

Hey everyone, I’ve done some more recording. This was the first script I ever uploaded and I wanted to do it again with my new setup. I appreciate any feedback on my performance, but in particular do you think it sounds consistent from beginning to end? How about my recording setup? Thanks.

Your voice is well-suited for narration. The tone you used for each of these scripts matched very well and the words you hit were magnificent. Tempo was a tad slow though and your pauses were a little overdone. I heard a great deal of mouth noises too and I would look for a way to fix that. All in all, you are on the right track. Well done.

First of all, you need to invest in a better recording setup. I could barely hear you, but I could make out enough. You had a great tone and tempo in the Radio Promo and I think you hit good words. However, when you were performing the radio station, the time, and the event, you sounded as if you lost your place and picked it up mid-sentence. This in turn lead you to sound lost in what you were trying to express and even sounded like you were trying to remember the event. If you slip up during recording, you must go back to the last comma or period and start over. That makes the script flow better.
The Baby Shampoo on the other hand sounded like you were going all over the place with your overall tone and there were too many pauses. The words you hit were good, but the tone sounded more like a whiny kid begging someone to try their product. I think you ought to find some baby shampoo commercials on YouTube to better understand how they sound and get inspiration. I hope this helps.

I really like your tempo and I think you hit the best words. However, I think your tone sounds more like an announcer and most VO scripts are meant to be conversational. Also, I think you may be trying too hard to finish the script and it’s hurting your pronunciation of certain words. Try relaxing for a moment and just perform the script at a steady pace. I hope this helps.

You have a fantastic voice for instructional videos and a great sound set up. Your read had a soothing tone that would trust with this type of read and the words you hit were just right. Your tempo however is a little too slow and you made the pauses too long. What’s more, I heard you paused in the middle of sentence 2. Pauses must be left for periods and commas, usually for no more than half a second.
