I liked your read. Very clear voice, and pleasant to listen too. The volume was pretty low so I couldn’t listen for any smaller details without pulling it into my DAW. Are you normalizing your file to -3db? That’ll really help it stand out, and in a good way.

I liked Bayer. You’ve got great diction and pronunciation. The pacing was also really good. The same items like breathes and plosives I mentioned earlier are there but overall I liked this read.

Shelly, welcome to the forum! I’ll list out what I noticed. Volume sounds good, your voice is great, and I liked your drop off with “begins, here.” The others that stood out are a lot of plosives. I’m not sure if you are using a pop filter and/or how close you are to your mic but ~6″ is good and you can kinda talk over, under or to the side of the mic depending on which one you have and whether it’s inverted or not. I can also hear all your breathes distinctly. Sometime breathes are good but you can dial them down in editing for narration purposes so it’s less noticeable. I’m gonna look at your Bayer clip next.

    Good Evening,

Looking for some feedback on a couple samples for an upcoming commercial demo. Inflection, pacing, and if I sound human or more robotic is helpful. Thanks!

Love the accent, the conversational tone. Better pace than the previous comment I made. Nice.

I love the voice and subtle inflections but I agree that it needs to be slowed down. Add a space in between the good for cat, great for canary with a shift in pitch.

You have a very unique voice with a lovely accent. The sound treatment you have sounds good to my ear but there are distinct mouth clicks which are easily removed with different plugins like iZotope. Example at :10 on the first read. There is another click at :45 which is something other than a mouth click on the second read and a pause that I’m not sure needs to be there. Add a little bit of pitch change so you aren’t “reading” throughout but all in all you’ve got the stuff to do great in my opinion.

Thank you! I’m always working on bringing out the smile and fun side. Not gonna use these for demo, but as you mentioned will be doing things more like John Deere, or Lowes, and Dad stuff. These help me open up a little more since I’m not great with the emotive side. Really appreciate it. I did my narration demo late last year and working on my commercial now. Best of luck to you!

Many thanks. Great advice, just looked it up. I’ll try and use that to help incorporate some emotion!
