I can already tell that my voice in this recording is higher because I’m nervous. I am open to any other feedback or suggestions you can provide. Thank you!

Your diction in all three reads is very clear, and you did a great job pronouncing all of those difficult words in the first read! I felt like the emotion and the tempo of the reads were somewhat similar and perhaps could have used a little more differentiation. I also noticed that in the first sentence of the second recording, the words “There,” “thousands,” “personal,” and “LabCorp” were emphasized. Perhaps see how it might sound by emphasizing only the key words. I did appreciate the clarity and pleasant tone of your voice in all three reads.

    Hello fellow VO artists:
I’m just experimenting with audiobook =character voices and still fiddling around with my audio settings. Any feedback is welcome.
    Thank you!

CORALINE DISCOVERED THE DOOR a little
while after they moved into the house.
It was a very old house—it had an attic under
the roof and a cellar under the ground and an
overgrown garden with huge old trees in it.
Coraline’s family didn’t own all of the house—it
was too big for that. Instead they owned part of it.
There were other people who lived in the old
    house.
Miss Spink and Miss Forcible lived in the flat
below Coraline’s, on the ground floor. They were
both old and round, and they lived in their flat with
a number of ageing Highland terriers who had
names like Hamish and Andrew and J**k. Once
upon a time Miss Spink and Miss Forcible had
been actresses, as Miss Spink told Coraline the
    first time she met her.
“You see, Caroline,” Miss Spink said, getting
Coraline’s name wrong, “both myself and Miss
Forcible were famous actresses, in our time. We
trod the boards, luvvy. Oh, don’t let Hamish eat
the fruitcake, or he’ll be up all night with his
    tummy.”
“It’s Coraline. Not Caroline. Coraline,” said
    Coraline.

Hello! I really like the quality of your recording… I don’t hear any heater running at all! I like the clarity and pacing of your read, and I also like the friendly nature of your voice. The read has a neutral feeling overall, so I would suggest adding more emphasis on the phrases about keeping things private, as those phrases seem to be the important thing that you are relating to with the listener.

Hello! The volume level needs to be much higher. I think there might be a blog on the Edge site about what the acceptable range should be for your recordings. I think the main thing to consider focusing on is the conversational aspect about both scripts, and if you can picture who you’re talking to, so in this case your baby, and deliver the lines as if you’re really talking to him, then that might help make it sound more connected. Also consider how you’re feeling in that moment, maybe cherishing the private time you are having with your baby boy, and let that feeling show through in your words. Both scripts have great potential for you, so keep at it!

You know when you take your shoes off and have to scratch your feet? Chances are you have fungus on your feet. While you’re running around all day in your sneakers, your foot becomes warm and sweaty. This is the human environment fungus love the most. Imagine millions of tiny fungi crawling around, feeding off all the slimy stuff in between your toes? That’s right – toe cheese is dinner for fungi. As they bug around eating, they’re also dying, breeding and pooping, which could irritate your skin, making you want to scratch it. Scratching feels good, but washing your feet regularly is better than allowing your foot to be a cafeteria for millions of fungi. To find out more yucky stuff, go to DiscoveryKids.com now.

Tax Reform: Standard vs. Itemized Deductions (2018)

When it comes to tax deductions, the new tax law not only raises the standard deductions, it also reduces or eliminates specific deductible expenses.

So can itemizing still make sense? It’s really all about the numbers.

If you choose the standard route, the deduction limits have nearly doubled. Now you are eligible for a $12,400 deduction or, if you are married filing jointly, $24,800.

If you have itemized in the past, you may find that now, the total of your itemized deductions is lower than the standard deduction limits.

Let’s look at changes the new tax law made to some of the biggest itemized deductions.

    Nature’s Recyclers — Discovery Kids
Did you know that mold and bacteria and higher-level organisms like beetles, centipedes and, of course, earthworms are all busy recyclers? By breaking down organic matter — stuff like dead plants, p**p, and decaying animals — they create valuable nutrients necessary for rich and fertile soil. Take it from me, a worm who knows, we are doing you a big favor.

You have pleasant toned voice that is easy to listen to! I liked your read, and I would recommend that you be aware of any extra pauses you may be inserting and perhaps shorten them or even exclude some of them for better flow. Also, consider reading a little faster for the listener who is mainly trying to find out what number to press! I think you began to get a little faster around “Press 3 to reach our billing department.”
