Participantthese are both great! i love the variations, i picked up on a few differences in spite of your speeding it up. the second is a little more guileless and rolling through and the first is more explanatory. i think the script asks for a more serious fairy, (i work for a living!) but i like that you brought that sense of fun to both.

ParticipantI agree with jadethevo! the only thing i can note is that your tone and pacing is really similar in all 3 scripts. although you start with a different energy for each, i wanted to point it out because you land in the same place at the end. carrying your script analysis and choices through to the end will show your range!

ParticipantHello gorgeous people!
Wanted to post a couple takes from practice this week. I’m working in my coaching on varying my sound and tone for different types of commercials, using pace in a way that makes sense for each script. I’m also still working on developing my spanish language scripts! If you speak spanish or have an ear for it, would you take a listen?
Keep in mind I’m still only recording on my phone and not looking for technical feedback! Thank you!Attachments:

ParticipantATTN SPANISH SPEAKERS// folks working in the Spanish/Spanglish commercial genre! Will you take a listen?
I’m a commercial genre kindergartner and basically an infant when it comes to doing any VO in Spanish, so any and all performance/technique notes are appreciated! Strongly considering adding some bilingual fun to my first demo.
Not looking for technical or sound quality notes today, just ~general~. always aiming at natural, conversational, and understandable.I also ran the Ziploc piece a couple times for fun. Still trying to pin down what my signature voice is so, gonna keep trying a few different styles in the forum.

ParticipantHey there Shae! you do have a wonderful sound and your read is very natural! I would say, if you’re hoping to increase your range, try to mix it up with pacing and adjusting your volume along the way. The cheerful tone works for the like, “character” in this copy, but in the long form of it all, adding those levels will really keep a listener engaged. great work though!

ParticipantHi Mike T. These sounded great, I liked the Smarts Broadcasting spot for your friendly energy. One tiny thing I noticed is a couple diction things, but you’re so naturally moving through the sentence its not like it made it hard to follow, it was great!

ParticipantHi Glen! I really liked your instinct to get soft and intimate in the potennix spot, but I think you have a distinct rhythm that you hit almost like a metronome, that makes it a lil monotonous. Definitely feel free to play around with your tempo more. I felt similarly about the mortgage holder piece. Jumping in on a phrase like “the cinema has no boundary,” is so epic ! maybe try to lead in slowly and then warm up as you get to recommendation part of the spot, just for some more dynamism. <3 good luck!

ParticipantHi Grace, that’s great advice. Thank you

Participanthi IlikeGlen! You have a fab voice and the energy is great for a kids candy commercial! the only note I have for you is to keep an eye on your diction: I heard “Aventure” and not “ADventure”. Thats it! keep up the good work!

ParticipantHey EC! nice work getting all the info across in the American Airlines piece. Your pacing is a bit robotic, work on varying it throughout to sound more conversational.
it’s probably not worth mentioning, but I thiiiink your laptop mic may be a bit too echo-y to be totally effective. if your usual mic is still out, try using a phone with a voice notes recording app if you have it, it may sound cleaner than your laptop. good luck! -
