Hi All! Here is my homework read for a Tesla Camera App found in eLearning/Education under narration.

I am not sure if the tone is supposed to sound “robotic”, but that is how I kept reading it.

There might be some slight background noise from my laptop. I did record with a pop filter for the first time today on my mic.

Tesla Camera App

The touchscreen is your control panel for accessing functions, features and apps in your Tesla. The camera allows you to display what the high-definition rear view camera sees at any time when in Reverse. Guidelines appear and move with the steering wheel to show your trajectory. Always be sure to check your surroundings and to use your mirrors. The camera is an aid and should not be relied upon for rear view. If you are in need of additional assistance, you can reach Tesla support at eight-four-four two-four-eight-three-seven-five-two.

Nice read —- the pace was even, and I could hear the variation in tone.

As a creative person, I’ve really enjoyed writing my own scripts, too —- I believe it helps with the enthusiasm! (I haven’t posted any here for feedback.)

Not that I don’t want to pronounce words correctly, but, I’m wondering if my close proximity to Quebec has anything to do with certain pronunciations and dialect. Hmm.

Hi Carla! Great pace and overall tone. I would suggest emphasizing “HONEY BUNCHES OF OATS” a little more. It does jump out on the script (as the product), so perhaps vary your pitch and tone, and make your audience know why you are excited! I hope this helps. Nice read!

I like your tone in all your reads. In this particular one, I will give feedback — slow it down slightly (I have struggled with this in my narration reads), and enunciate clearer on “to”. It sounded like “ta” — I have to catch myself with this also. I hope this helps.

I struggled with this copy all evening and night. You name it, and I just couldn’t get it right — from my enunciation, which is frustrating me (“corset” to mention one), to pops and clicks; even my recording quality. However, I am uploading this practice read for your critique.

Mae West

Mae West was the daughter of a boxer and a corset model, who became a vaudevillian at the age of fourteen. At thirty three, in 1926, she wrote, produced and directed a Broadway show called ‘S*x’, and landed in jail on obscenity charges. After wowing Broadway in ‘Diamond Lil’, she signed with Paramount in 1932 and moved to Hollywood. Her risqué 1930s comedies were ground-breaking, in terms of both s****l content and roles for women. Her films included ‘Night After Night’ and ‘She Done Him Wrong’, which was the film version of ‘Diamond Lil’, and broke all existing box-office records, credited with saving Paramount from having to sell out to its rival, MGM.

Thanks Mary! I can hear where you and Luke say it sounds like “hunners”. Interestingly, I did this read many times, and on this one I heard the “t” (or maybe it’s my teeth making that sound?) — I thought I had captured it enough. Where I am from, we are known for not pronouncing our “t’s, so I can understand on some words it’s not coming through — working (frustratingly) on it! Thanks again! – Kathy

Totally understand wanting to sound authentic without the read sounding over the top. I literally have to remember to “smile” when reading; being a little more animated (talking with my hands!), or sometimes standing up for longer reads works better for me.

Thanks, SuperLuke! Any feedback was appreciated! Here I was practicing pitch and tone. I actually didn’t notice that noise in my playback before now. I’m still getting used to my mic (no pop filter at the moment) and recording software —- I may have adjusted something without realizing it! Noted!

Hi all! A documentary read for cats. Here I was practicing varying my tone and pitch. I did stretch out some words for emphasis, but did notice afterwards that the word “time” was a little too long, and I didn’t intend to read it that way. Any and all feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Cats

They are hunters, with muscles taut, and eyes fixed on their intended prey. They are gentle, with fluid movement and a sensitive touch. They are regal, with a lineage that goes back to worshiped ancestors during the time of the Pharaohs. They are introspective, aloof, unpredictable, affectionate, comical and mischievous. They are cats.
