Description
At its very core, voice over is a form of communication. You, the voice artist, have a story to tell the listener. But, what happens when the voice artist isn’t able to clearly deliver the message to the intended audience? Slurred words, poor breath support, and choppy reads can turn off a listener and make them think “what’d they say?”
As a voice artist, it is your job to clearly and effectively communicate the message of your client to their audience. Failure to deliver crisp, clear, articulate reads will prevent you from booking work in the future. So what can you do to ensure you are doing your job to the best of your abilities and making all your clients happy?
In this class, Pen-Pen Chen will help you work on the A, B, C’s of effective communication: Articulation, Breathing, Clarity, and Connection. Communication and voice is all about getting our messages across and understanding the listener’s perspective. When our communication and voices get masked by fast paced and unarticulated speech, confusion about what we are saying and why, communication breaks down. We don’t end up holding our end of the bargain and we can leave our listeners confused, annoyed, and frustrated. What if we could make our verbal delivery flow easily through us, speak with poise and confidence while having fun? We would naturally be booking and rebooking more gigs and be a cut above the rest.
In this course, students will learn how to:
- Achieve optimal breath support allowing you to maintain the same energy throughout your entire line
- Pace your delivery and have facility to make adjustments as needed (not too fast, not too slow, but just right!)
- Speak clearly and articulately so you can sound natural during delivery
- Connect to your scripts on an emotional level and deliver meaningful messages that make your clients happy
